VIVA! FROM HOME

COVID-19 pandemic really changed a lot of things. The education system, work, economy, environment, pollution, lifestyle, and many more. We cannot hide the fact that these are now the new normal. We have to do things with distance and has to be conducted online.

One example is the previous Vigan City Fiesta celebration. Many of the activities have to be done online due to the reason that crowds give a higher chance of virus transmission, and of course, we don’t want that. Fortunately, there were still some events that were allowed where people were present, like the Longganisa Cookfest and the masses, but of course while still practicing social distance and properly wearing PPE's.
To say that it's different is even an understatement in my own opinion. I am not a resident of Vigan, but the school where I study was is located there, so I technically live at Vigan too. All of these feels odd. Vigan is normally a place full of people, of life. But if you go out these days, silence is prominent. Many of course was not happy with this, but what can we do? It’s the virus against us, and of course, we’re at the losing end. This year's fiesta celebration is the “new” one. It is conducted online and with a distance. Through live videos. Through face-to-face gatherings with restricted physical contact. I, of course, wasn’t satisfied for I have always celebrated this occasion together with many people. I bet many feel the same way as me. But let’s not lose hope. These challenges will pass.
