Binatbatan in '21

Vigan is known to have grand festivals which tourists and even local people love to witness. One of such festivals is the Binatbatan Festival, which was celebrated yearly from the last week of April till the first week of May. It is a festival that celebrates the art of weaving and its importance to our culture. Various events were held like kalesa parade, traditional games, but the most famous one is the street dancing competition. It sort of serves as the highlight of the whole festival.

All these years, Binatbatan was always celebrated and it attracts many tourists. However, last year, the raging fire-like pandemic attacked the whole world. Events were canceled, including the festival itself, which makes it very strange to Ilocanos for there’s no Festival celebrated. This year marks the 2nd time that the festival wasn’t celebrated in a normal way. This didn’t stop Ilocano though. They still celebrated the festivals through the use of social media, like filming street dance performances. This only shows that nothing can stop us.
